FREEDOM BY DESIGN

Freedom by Design is the hands-on, community service aspect of AIAS. In FBD we use your talents to help design something to better the community. This year, FBD is working on revitalizing a park on 148th street in a very creative, collaborative design process. You’ll have the opportunity to engage with those who will be using the park, and use that insight to be a stronger architect. Within a year, you’ll be able to add a built, real-world project to your resume, all while gaining AXP hours! And even more valuable, you can see your designs come to life an take them from start to finish.

The current project is sited at a 7,500 square foot park on 148th street. Although the space is great, poor planning and site conditions haven't let it reach it's potential. Freedom by Design students are tasked with designing a solution that not only aesthetically appeals to the community, but also serves as a silution to drainage issues.
